A&M-Kingsville Trombone Choir Earns Recognition from International Trombone Association

The Texas A&M University-Kingsville Trombone Choir recently received an Honorable Mention award from the International Trombone Association’s Emory Remington Trombone Choir Competition.

Under the direction of Dr. Oscar Diaz, assistant professor in the Department of Music, the Trombone Choir competed against 20 trombone choirs from around the world. The A&M-Kingsville choir was one of four choirs to earn Honorable Mention, including choirs from The University of North Texas, Michigan State and Ithaca College.

 “Texas A&M-Kingsville is listed in this competition alongside some of the best music schools in the world and it is an honor to work with such hard working students in my entire trombone studio,” Diaz said.

 The Trombone Choir is comprised of 16 players, selected by audition from the 30 trombone majors in Diaz’s studio.
