The Minor 4TH Trombone Quartet (M4TQ)—an up and coming chamber ensemble praised for its high level of musicianship and technical ability—will perform a Guest Artist Concert at Texas A&M University-Kingsville at 8 p.m. Wednesday, January 26 at the Frank C. Smith Recital Hall. This is a free event, open to the public.

Formed in 2005 while its members attended graduate school at the University of Texas, M4TQ is comprised of four music professors from throughout Texas who are also active performers, including Dr. Oscar Diaz, A&M-Kingsville assistant professor of trombone. Other members of the quartet include Javier Stuppard, assistant professor of instrumental music at Huston-Tillotson University; Martin McCain, a member of the trombone faculty at Texas State University; and Rai Morales, assistant professor of trombone at West Texas A&M University. Both Diaz and Morales are products of the A&M-Kingsville program.

Each member of the quartet has performed across the country and earned multiple recognitions for their individual performances. The group reunited in 2009 to tour the country and record an album.

M4TQ will perform an array of works by Gliere, Bach, Bourgeois, Apon, Lennon/McCartney and Monti.
