Department of Music Faculty Welcome the New Semester During Faculty Recital, September 14

Faculty from the music department of Texas A&M University-Kingsville are ready to kick off the new semester with a display of their own musical talents during the Faculty Recital at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 14 in the Frank C. Smith Recital Hall of the Bellamah Music Building.

The faculty will perform William Walton’s Façade—a jazz-inspired selection based on the poetry of Edith Sitwell. Dr. Melinda Brou, assistant professor of voice, will narrate the event and Dr. Yutaka Kono, assistant professor of tuba and euphonium, will conduct the performance.

The recital will include a brief historical introduction by Dr. Darin Hoskisson, assistant professor of music theory. Faculty performing include Dr. Naomi Seidman, assistant professor of flute; James Warth, associate professor of saxophone; Dr. John Cord, assistant professor of trumpet; John Dexter, strings lecturer; and Dr. Jason Kihle, assistant professor of percussion. Senior Michael Trejo will also perform alongside the faculty.

A reception will follow this free performance.
