Texas A&M University-Kingsville’s Career Services office will host an education career fair for students looking for work in the teaching field.
The career fair will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Tuesday, Nov.11, in the ballrooms on the second floor of the Memorial Student Union Building. Representatives from more than 50 school districts across the state will be on hand to visit with education majors who will be graduating soon.
According to the American Association for Employment in Education in its 2008 Teacher Supply and Demand by Field and Region, Texas is experiencing a considerable shortage in the fields of bilingual education, English as a second language, mathematics, science education and special education.
Students should wear professional attire, bring copies of their resume and transcripts and be prepared to interview that day. The fair also is open to alumni of the education department who may be looking for a new job. For more information, call 361-593-2217. A listing of participants may be found at www.tamuk.edu/csc.
