New Miss TAMUK To Be Crowned Saturday, April 12, At Jones Auditorium

The annual Miss Texas A&M University-Kingsville scholarship pageant will be held Saturday, April 12. The winner will receive a $1,000 scholarship and the title of Miss Texas A&M University-Kingsville 2008. The pageant begins at 7 p.m. in Jones Auditorium. Admission is free. This year’s theme is A Moment in Time.

The pageant is sponsored by the Office of Student Activities at Texas A&M-Kingsville. Eleven young women will compete for the title and scholarship. In addition to the scholarship for the winner, the runners up receive scholarships in the amounts of $700, $500, $250 and $100.

This year’s candidates are:

Victoria Estrada, a sophomore civil engineering major from San Antonio;
Neha Ghalke, a graduate student in computer science from Secunderabad, India;
Kiasha Hines, a freshman criminology major from New Orleans;
Lilly Ann Ortiz, a sophomore business management major from Corpus Christi;
Jesaiah Pantel, a junior accounting major from Riviera;
Victoria Alegria Perez, a sophomore communication science and disorders major and psychology minor from Rio Grande City;
Victoria Christy Sathya, a graduate student in computer science from Chennai, India;
Erica Rodriguez, a sophomore criminology major and sociology minor from Bloomington; and
Stephanie Wright, a junior theatre arts major and English minor from Kingsville.
