Free public concert features Jazz Bands I, II, III and Jazz Trombone Ensemble
The award-winning jazz bands of Texas A&M University-Kingsville perform an evening of beloved standards at the 24th Annual Jazz Bash Tuesday, Nov. 20 at 7 p.m. in Jones Auditorium, located on campus on Armstrong Street near the intersection of Santa Gertrudis Boulevard. Admission is free.
Featured groups are as follows:
Jazz Band I, directed by Dr. Paul Hageman, Regents professor and chair of music
Jazz Bands II and III, directed by assistant professor of music James Warth
The Jazz Trombone Ensemble, directed by music instructor Oscar Diaz
They will perform Georgia on My Mind, Begin the Beguine, I Thought About You and Autumn Leaves, among other numbers.
One of the largest university jazz programs in the state and the southern United States, Texas A&M-Kingsville jazz groups have performed in venues across the nation from Colorado to Louisiana to Alabama. Students performing in the jazz groups come from all over the university, with majors ranging from music to engineering and from business to education.
