New Miss TAMUK to be crowned Sunday, April 23, at Jones Auditorium

The annual Miss Texas A&M University-Kingsville scholarship pageant will be held Sunday, April 23. The winner will receive a $1,000 scholarship and the title of Miss Texas A&M University-Kingsville 2006. The pageant begins at 4 p.m. in Jones Auditorium. Admission is free. This year’s theme is Some Enchanted Evening.
The pageant is sponsored by the Office of Student Activities at Texas A&M-Kingsville. Sixteen young women will be competing for the title and scholarship. In addition to the scholarship for the winner, the runners up receive scholarships in the amount of $700, $500, $250 and $100, respectively.
This year’s candidates are:
Jessica D. Contreras, a senior exercise science major from Raymondville;
Katherine Lynn Gutierrez, a senior business finance major from Sinton;
Lisa Marie Garcia, a junior business administration and marketing major from McAllen;
Krystal Michele Seidel, a senior communications radio/television major from Kingsville;
Veronica Leigh Silva, a junior kinesiology major, biology minor from Lyford;
Carrie Jo Rodrigues, a junior agriculture education major, communications minor from Goliad;
Esther Ganta, a graduate student in electrical engineering and computer science from Hyderabad, India;
Analyn Nunez, a sophomore architectural engineering major from Brownsville;
Krista Nix, a senior communications major, computer information systems minor from Bishop;
Heather Elaine Hoffa, a sophomore music education major from George West;
Lisa Marie Gonzales, a junior social work major from Harlingen;
Stephanie Brache, a freshman education major from Bishop;
Veronica Jimenez, a junior chemistry major from Petronila;
Rebecca Renae Arevalo, a sophomore fashion and interiors major, business minor from Sugar Land;
Dominique Marie Garcia, a junior communications major, art minor from Kingsville; and
Cynthia D. Salinas, a senior bilingual education major from Corpus Christi.
