Justin Muñoz has been named Director of Alumni Affairs at Texas A&M University-Kingsville. Muñoz has been serving in the post on an interim capacity since September 2013.

“Justin has impressed me as a young professional who is constantly working on innovative ideas to find better ways to reach and serve our alumni,” said Bradley Walker, Chief Development Officer for Alumni Services and Giving and CEO of the Texas A&M University-Kingsville Foundation.

“He pays attention to best practices across the state and nation and is working hard to bring those to our Javelina Alumni Association,” he added.

Muñoz aims to keep the future of alumni relations simple. “I see us enhancing our current alumni office by keeping it simple: connect, go, help and give,” he said.

“By asking our 40,000 alumni to connect with us in the form of updating their contact information, we will be able to better communicate with them. This contact information will allow us to ask them to go to our events, both on campus and across the state,” Muñoz said.

“We can then ask them to help by volunteering their time. And the final step for alumni is to give by donating to the university in whatever area our former students think they can make the most impact,” he added.

Muñoz said he also will begin video conferencing for alumni gatherings so Javelinas from all over can participate from their home or business.

“I believe the future of alumni relations is in service to all of our alumni, including those who attended with those who graduated,” Walker said. “We want to provide ways for the university to remain a part of the lives of our alumni so we can share each other’s success. Justin will work hard to keep the university visible to our alumni so they can find ways to be involved.”

Muñoz is an alumnus of Texas A&M-Kingsville, earning his master’s degree in business administration. He received his bachelor’s degree in communication studies from the University of Texas. Prior to becoming Interim Director of Alumni Affairs, Muñoz was marketing coordinator in the Office of Marketing and Communications at Texas A&M-Kingsville.
