CONTACT: Jason Marton NASA Academy alumnus offers look at martian craters KINGSVILLE (October 12, 2004) — G. Susan Cabello, a senior geology major at Texas A&M University-Kingsville, will serve as speaker at the Physics/Geosciences Brown Bag Lecture on Thursday, October 21 at noon in room 119 of Hill Hall. Cabello, a 2004 alumnus of the NASA Academy, will present the lecture, “From Texas A&M University-Kingsville to Mars: Buried Impact Craters on Utopia Planitia Basin Region, Mars.” The public is invited to attend and bring a lunch to this free event. The NASA Academy was founded in 1993 at the Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) by Gerald Soffen to serve as a national educational, training and research resource for college undergraduate and graduate students. Its stated goal is to promote current and future opportunities for innovation and leadership in aerospace-related careers. Cabello holds Associate of Science degrees in geology and criminal justice from Laredo Community College. She is a member and past president of the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers, treasurer for the Society of Physics Students, and a member of Alpha Chi, Phi Theta Kappa and the National Scholars Honor Society. -TAMUK- |
