Form I-20 Requirements

Students currently in their Home Country

International Students who are granted admission to the university will have their admission file sent to the International Student Services Office for I-20 review.  These documents are required in order for a student to obtain an F1 Student Visa.  Please see our requirements for I-20 issuance here:

F1 Students currently in the U.S.

F1 students who are currently residing in the U.S. on an F1 visa and want to transfer, (or begin a new program of study,) at TAMUK must have their SEVIS records transferred from their previous school, before a form I-20 can be issued.  Please see our requirements for F1 transfer students here:

Change of Status to F1

Students who are currently in the U.S. under a different visa type, (i.e. F2, H4, B2, etc.) may need to change their immigration status to F1 in order to take part in full-time study.  If you need to obtain a form I-20 for this purpose, please be sure to notify our office at the e-mail address below so the information can be correctly indicated on your documents.

Dependent I-20/DS-2019 for F2/J2 Visa

Student’s holding F-1/J-1 visas who want to invite their dependent(s) or spouse may obtain information and necessary documents from ISS so that the individual(s) can request F-2/J-2 visas(s) at a U.S. Consulate/Embassy in a foreign country. Note: A “dependent” is defined as the spouse and/or unmarried minor children (under the age of 21) of the F-1/J-1 student.
