Texas A&M University-Kingsville

Optional Practical Training

Students may begin applying for Post-Completion OPT up to 90 days before their program completion date.  **Please note that Program Completion Date may be different from "graduation date."**

Students who are graduating and plan to apply for Optional Practical Training (OPT) Upon Completion of Studies will need to attend a session to learn more about applying for OPT and pick-up an information packet.

OPT Pick-up sessions will be held at 11:00a.m. & 2:00p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays in Cousin's Hall.

**Please note: students must attend an OPT Information pick-up session before they can submit their documents to apply.**

Students who are not currently in Kingsville should make arrangements to attend a pick-up session in person.  Students must be physically present for the pick-up session.  OISSS will not issue an OPT I-20 to students who do not attend a pick-up session No exceptions.

It is highly recommended that students attend pick-up sessions and begin applying early, as it can take 3-5 months for USCIS to process applications.

Please allow 5-7 days for a DSO to review the OPT Application request and for the form I-20 to be issued.

If you have any questions about attending a pick-up session or scheduling an appointment, please contact OISSS at 361-593-3317 or visit the front desk located in Cousin's Hall.
