Optional Practical Training (OPT)
Students may begin applying for Post-Completion OPT up to 90 days before their graduation date.
Students who are graduating and plan to apply for Optional Practical Training (OPT) Upon Completion of Studies will need to attend a session to learn more about applying for OPT and pick-up an information packet.
Sign-up sheets are available at the front desk in Cousin's Hall so students can select a session date to attend.
OPT Pick-up sessions will be held at 2:00p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays in Cousin's Hall.
**Please note: students must attend an OPT Information pick-up session before they can submit their documents to apply.**
Students who are not currently in Kingsville should make arrangements to attend a pick-up session in person, as well as schedule an appointment with a DSO to submit their application documents to USCIS. Students must be physically present for the pick-up session, as well as to submit their documents. No exceptions.
It is highly recommended that students attend pick-up sessions and begin applying early, as appointment slots are limited and fill up quickly.
Once students attend an OPT Pick-Up session and have ALL their documents completed and ready to submit, they may schedule an appointment to meet with a DSO, obtain a recommendation in SEVIS and submit their documents to USCIS.
Appointments are available Mondays and Wednesday - Friday, from 10:00am - 11:15am, from now until May 9, 2013. (No other appointment times will be made available).
**Please note: Students should arrive early and MUST have all their documents completed and ready to submit when they arrive for their appointment. Students who are late or do not have all their documents available and ready to submit will need to reschedule -- No Exceptions.**
If you have any questions about attending a pick-up session or scheduling an appointment, please contact the ISS Office at 361-593-3317 or visit the front desk located in Cousin's Hall.
