The Honors College Student Council is the official student organization of the Honors College. Membership in the HCSC is open to any TAMUK student admitted and in good standing in the Honors College.
The HCSC has an Executive Board of Officers. Members of the HCSC interested in having a leadership role in the Council should visit the election process part of this section.
This organization will not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national or ethnic origin, religion, sex, disability, age, sexual orientation, or veteran status.
MEETING TIMES FOR FALL 2014
The HCSC will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays of each month as listed below. These meetings are open to all Honors College students and you are encouraged to attend. The meetings will be held in the first floor study room of MVW.
October 8 (Wednesday) - 6:00pm in MVW room 112
October 21 (Tuesday) - 6:45pm in MVW Room 112
November 4 (Tuesday) - 6:45pm in MVW Room 112
November 19 (Wednesday) - 6:00pm in MVW Room 112
December 2 (Tuesday) - 6:45pm in MVW Room 112
Special presentations and social events will be scheduled throughout the semester. Please check the Honors College calendar for more information.
CATEGORIES OF MEMBERSHIP:
Active Members (Voting Status)
To be considered an Active member, HC students need to participate in the following activities:
- attend at least half of the scheduled HC sponsored events per fall and spring semesters (sign-in required)
- participate in at least three online discussions per fall and spring semesters
- vote, either at a meeting or online, in HCSC elections
- Only Active Members are eligible to represent the HCSC and participate in sponsored trips and/or request possible funding.
Non-active Members (Non-voting Status)
HC students who do not maintain Active Membership will be classified as a Non-active Member (loss of voting privileges) until such time as they reestablish Active Membership.
Staff/Faculty Members (Non-voting Status)
Honors College staff and TAMUK faculty teaching Honors sections/contracts are eligible to be non-voting members of the HCSC.
