Graduate Council Meeting

March 25, 2009

Faculty Present:  Ashley Bennington, Jack Bradley (for Sue Bradley), Linda Challoo, Jieming Chen, Michelle Garcia, Enrique Massa, Joon-Yeoul Oh, Venkatesh Uddameri, LaVonne Williams, Roberto Vela Cordova

Faculty Absent:  Rajab Challoo, Thomas Fields, Fidel Hernandez, Patrick Mills, George Wagman, Mamoudou Sétamou

Meeting called to order at 2:45 p.m.

Standing Committee Reports

Executive Committee (Dr. Uddameri) –  No Report

Curriculum Committee (Dr. J. Bradley)  –  No Report

Membership Committee (Dr. Vela) –  Candidates approved by the Membership Committee were approved by the Council.  Incomplete applications need be re-submitted by April 10^th.  The committee will review the applications and make a final recommendation by April 24^th.

Program Review Committee  –  No Report

Interim VP Report –  No Report

Old Business –   Rules and regulations of the Thesis manual were discussed.  Graduate Coordinators will be asked to provide proposed changes to the manual.  Any proposed changes should be submitted by April 10^th.

New Business – Dr. Massa reminded the council about the provost and vice president for academic affairs search and encouraged the council members to attend the candidates’ presentations/open forums.
