Graduate Council Meeting

13 February 2007


Members present: Ballard, Bradley, Brown, Clapp, Downs, Faruqi, Fields, Massa, Nelson (represented by Mr. Chauali), Oh, Olivares, Shorter, Wagman, Lewis (student rep), Munoz (student rep)


Members absent: Hewitt, Torres


Meeting called to order at 2:45 p.m.


Motion to accept minutes from January 23, 2007 meeting approved.


Executive Committee - Nothing to report


Curriculum Committee - Dr. Bradley reported that there are 2 graduate curriculum proposals being considered by the committee:  ACCT-06-G-1; BUAD-06-G-1  There was also discussion on listing some courses currently taught at the undergraduate level as graduate courses so that they could be considered stem courses.  This motion was approved.


Membership Committee – Over 100 applications for graduate faculty status have been reviewed.  The graduate council approved the recommended graduate membership list.


Program Review – A program review report will be submitted at the next graduate council meeting scheduled for March 20, 2007.


Dean’s Report – Mr. Manuel Lujan reported on graduate student enrollment at the University and on strategies to maintain enrollment.  Graduate enrollment is currently good and is expected to grow next academic year.
