Annette Breaux, a prolific author and motivational speaker, will share her techniques for developing effective classroom management during a special lecture Saturday, August 23 at Texas A&M University-Kingsville.

Breaux’s lecture begins at 8:30 a.m. in Jones Auditorium and is open to all educators in districts that have partnered with the university’s TEACH Project. Registration is $25. Three CPE credit hours will be available for individuals holding a Texas Standard Teaching Certificate.

The TEACH Project is a U.S. Department of Education grant-funded program that focuses on preparing high-quality teachers for work in high-needs South Texas school districts through the A&M-Kingsville alternative certification program. TEACH Project Partner Districts include the following: Agua Dulce, Alice, Banquete, Beeville, Ben Bolt, Benavides, Brooks County, Corpus Christi, Donna, Edcouch-Elsa, Edinburg, Freer, Harlandale, Harlingen, Kenedy, Kingsville, La Feria, La Joya, La Pryor, La Villa, Mathis, Mission, Nixon-Smiley, Orange Grove, Pharr-San Juan-Alamo, Premont, Raymondville, Ricardo, Riviera, Robstown, San Antonio, San Benito, San Diego, San Felipe Del Rio, Sinton, Taft and West Oso.

Breaux shares with her audiences practical techniques to implement in their classrooms immediately. Her message is one of practicality and personality in teaching, of feeling and healing in touching students' lives, and of common sense and creative teaching strategies.  A former classroom teacher, curriculum coordinator, and teacher induction coordinator, Breaux also developed the FIRST Program, an induction program for new teachers hailed as one of the best in the country. The program was adopted as Louisiana’s statewide model.

Breaux’s lecture is sponsored by the A&M-Kingsville College of Education and Human Performance Center for Educator Preparation Services and the TEACH Project. Register by clicking the “Registration” link at www.tamuk.edu/teach. Registration deadline if Friday, August 22.
