For three decades, the Texas A&M University-Kingsville Department of Music has kicked off the Thanksgiving holiday with jazz.

This year, the community is invited to celebrate 30 years of Javelina tradition during the Jazz Bash fall concert beginning at 7 p.m., Tuesday, November 26 in Jones Auditorium. The concert is free and open to the public

The concert will feature many of the department’s internationally award-winning jazz ensembles, including Jazz Bands I, II, III and the Latin Jazz Ensemble.

The Latin Jazz Ensemble is directed by Dr. Jason Kihle, Jazz Band III is directed by Dr. Kyle Millsap, Jazz Band II is directed by Mr. James Warth, and Jazz Band I is directed by Dr. Paul Hageman.      

Selected musical pieces include Changuiri, Moten Swing, Black Orpheus, Samba de Amour, Corazon, RU Chicken, Widow’s Walk, Peri’s Scope, Bluesette, Anthropology, Freedom Jazz Dance, Hey There, Senor Mouse and Minuano 6/8.
