How To Apply for DRC Services

STEP ONE

After a student has enrolled for classes at Texas A&M University-Kingsville, he or she must complete a Disability Resource Center (DRC) Accommodation Request Form; submit disability documentation, and a detailed class schedule.

For disability documentation, please review the documentation eligibility requirements available on the Disability Resource Center website http://www.tamuk.edu/drc/documentation.html

The Accommodation Request Form and all other information may be submitted in person or delivered via mail at the address noted below. You may also fax documentation to (361) 593-2006. Documentation will not be accepted through e-mail.

STEP TWO

Once all required forms and disability documentation is received, the submitted information will be reviewed on an individual, case-by-case basis.   Please submit your information 2-3 weeks prior to the date that services are requested. If you have any questions about the office or the process for requesting accommodations, please contact the Disability Resource Center (DRC) at (361) 593-3024 or visit the DRC website,

http://www.tamuk.edu/drc/index.html

STEP THREE

The DRC Coordinator will review your documentation and determine if he/she qualifies as a person with a disability and identify the reasonable accommodations in which he/she qualifies.   The student will be contacted if additional information is needed to determine eligibility for reasonable accommodations.

STEP FOUR

Once accommodations are approved, the DRC staff will contact the student to schedule a meeting with the DRC Coordinator to review their accommodation plan, pick up accommodation letters, and sign any required forms.

DISTANCE/ONLINE LEARNING STUDENT:  The DRC Coordinator will contact the student and schedule either a conference call meeting and/or SKYPE communication session to review their accommodation plan. The DRC will email or fax the required forms to the distance/online learner. The student must complete and return the forms to the DRC office before accommodation letters are provided.  Distance/Online Learners will receive their accommodation letters via email in PDF format or faxed upon the student’s request.
