Message from the Director:

Welcome to the TAMUK Clinical/Activist MSW program. This particular MSW program is unique in its approach to rural social work practice. This approach building on the community-centered clinical multi-focused practice method that seeks to strengthen neighborhoods and community institutions while also addressing the personal and interpersonal issues facing members of the community. 

The profession of social work is based on the values of service, social and economic justice, dignity and worth of the person, importance of human relationships, and integrity and competence in practice. With these values as defining principles, the primary mission of the social work program is to offer an educational program that will prepare graduates to provide competent Clinical/Activist social work to an ethnically and culturally diverse population with an educational emphasis on social justice and empowerment for people who are vulnerable, oppressed, and living in poverty. The social work program is committed to promoting professional social work practice and values in the development of social work knowledge and responsive social service delivery systems.

The TAMUK Clinical/Activist MSW program prepares graduates for advanced social work practice with the diverse populations and social service settings in the rural US/Mexico border and outlining regions. In order to be admitted to the TAMUK MSW program, applicants must apply through the TAMUK online application process and meet the requirements for admission. Applicants must also meet the specific MSW program admissions requirements.
