Before TAMUK:

Before earning earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Masters in Psychology and Sociology from Texas A&M University- Kingsville, Melissa served 12 years in the United States Army with two combat tours.  Her experience includes working with diverse population (preschool age, adolescents, and adults). Melissa earned her License in Chemical Dependency and was employed at the Alice Counseling Center as a Substance Abuse Counselor; she also earned her certification in Mental Health and was employed at Coastal Plains (MHMR) as a Mental Health Professional and Coastal Bend College as an Educational Talent Search Counselor.

Family information:

Melissa was born and raised in Ben Bolt, TX.  She is a mother of two beautiful children (a boy and a girl) and has established residence in Alice, Texas. Besides spending quality time with her family, she enjoys hunting, fishing, snowboarding, traveling, teaching Sunday school, advocating for children with Autism and Veterans. She also enjoys participating in community service work.
