Hall of South Texas History

Formed by the Contributions of Many Cultures...

Children 'Feeding' Beccerita, the Museum's Calf

The museum's Hall of South Texas History tells the distinct story of some of the many peoples and cultures that impacted the history of the region. Since the arrival of the earliest known indigenous peoples in prehistory to the present, South Texas has been an appealing, and at times a challenging, home to many cultures— Spanish, Mexican and Anglo-American. The story of the Mexican vaquero, forerunner of the American cowboy, is also featured here.
