"Mi Familia - Mi Comunidad" means "My Family, My Community." The third and final phase of a joint project between the Conner Museum and the South Texas Archives, this bilingual exhibit utilizes over 150 photographs and artifacts from our local Hispanic-American community to illustrate the rich cultural legacy of South Texas. During our Common Heritage Day last October, families from throughout the South Texas region brought their photographs to the Museum to be digitally scanned, with the digital images being placed into the South Texas Archives and accessible to family members, genealogists, and researchers for perpetuity. Spanning almost a hundred year-period, these photos provide a window into the past and present of the Mexican-American culture in South Texas. "Mi Familia - Mi Comunidad" is a Common Heritage Project funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities.
