Hugh Porter Mathematics Scholarship
AWARDS
$1000 per year, $500 for fall semester, additional $500 for students meeting continuance
criteria.
QUALIFYING CRITERIA
Incoming Freshmen:
- SAT 970 composite or ACT 21 composite score
- Placement into MATH 1316 or higher
- Mathematics Major
- Full-time student (12 or more hours)
Transfer and Continuing Students:
- 3.0 Overall GPA
- 3.0 Mathematics GPA
- Mathematics Major
- Full-time Student (12 or more hours)
Other Criteria Considered:
- Performance in High School Mathematics Courses (Incoming Freshmen)
- Participation in Extra-curricular Activities
- Student's Rationale for Wanting the Scholarship
- Letters of Recommendation
CONTINUANCE CRITERIA
Students who have received an award for the Fall Semester will receive an award for the Spring
Semester if during the Fall award semester they:
- Earn a Minimum of 12 Hours Semester Credit
- Complete a minimum of three hours mathematics credit (for lower division students) or a
minimum of six hours mathematics credit (for upper division students) - Maintain an Overall and Mathematics Minimum GPA of 3.0
APPLICATION PROCEDURE
Incoming Freshmen Submit:
- Completed Scholarship Application Form
- Official High School Transcript
- ACT or SAT Test Score Results
- Two Letters of Recommendation
- A 250 word essay indicating why you would like the Mathematics Scholarship
Transfer or Continuing Students Submit:
- Official Transcripts from All Colleges Attended
- Two Letters of Recommendation
- A 250 word essay indicating why you would like the Mathematics Scholarship
