Gender in the New Millennium:

3rd Annual WGST-Sponsored Student Symposium

The Women and Gender Studies Program at Texas A&M University-Kingsville is pleased to announce our third annual student symposium to be held during Women’s History Month on Thursday, March 20, 2014. This year’s theme is “Gender in the New Millennium.” This call for proposals seeks abstracts for work to be considered for the symposium.  Please send your 1-page abstract and short biographical statement by March 3, 2014 to Dr. Abby Mann, Director, Women and Gender Studies Program, MSC 162 or abigail.mann@tamuk.edu.

All disciplines are welcome.  Some possible research topics might include women's studies; masculinity studies; lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgendered (LGBT) studies; feminist theory; and “queer” theory (the study of human sexuality in cultures and in history).  Poster and paper presentations are welcome, as are presentations of work in the visual, literary, musical, and performance arts.  Faculty participation is encouraged in partnership with a student presentation, or as part of a planned faculty roundtable on the topic of gender studies.  Interested roundtable participants please contact Dr. Mann.
