My Research: Ever wonder how the state of quarks affects atomic transition states of matter? Me neither which is why I study animals. My current project is an arena-based experiment that aims to test the effects of direct cues (things like sound and smell) of different predators on the Gulf Coast kangaroo rat and Merriam’s pocket mouse in inter-specific competition. Why the rodents you ask? Heteromyid rodents act as seed predators and as a result, changes in their behavior may have a large effect on plant abundance and diversity in arid ecosystems.
