Theatre Arts

Come play a part in the Texas A&M University-Kingsville Theatre Arts program. Participation and dedication will prepare you for professional theatre, graduate work, internships and/or education. Students interested in learning the different fields related to drama and performing arts can enroll at TAMUK and strive to earn a minor and teaching certification in Theatre Arts.

As our education preparation has been important for our students, we also will help prepare the student for the professional theatre and film world; in the fields of acting, directing, musical theatre, design and artistic administration.

Theatre TAMUK has several opportunities and offerings for incoming students. We have a long tradition of producing well-trained and established professionals in the business of theatre and film, but here are a few other elements of our programs that you may also be interested in:

  • Three venues for the students producing 6 shows a year; a black box, 250-seat theatre, 945-seat theatre.
  • Producing 6 shows allowing for more stage opportunities for students in all forms of acting styles
  • A professional Presidential Performing Arts Series which brings in a professional theatre production and /or artists for performances and/or workshops for our students each semester
  • We have several scholarship opportunities available along with financial aid and 2-3 work-studies in the theatre department
  • We are very active in the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival (KCACTF)
