Deborah A. Maloy, Veterinary Technician

Deborah A. Maloy

Deborah graduated from Santa Fe College with a degree in Biological Parks Technology (zoo keeping).  Following her interest in veterinary medicine, she worked in small animal practice until she accepted a technician position with the Dallas Zoo.  After becoming a licensed veterinary technician, Deborah continue her zoo medicine career; working at the Indianapolis Zoo, Audubon Center for Research of Endangered Species (Audubon Zoo), and the Jacksonville Zoo.  She participated in multiple research projects including assisted reproductive techniques in elephants and exotic antelope and modeling Tuberculosis treatment for elephants.  She continued her interest in research by joining the cancer and neurological study teams at the Mayo Clinic (Florida) before leaving to help develop a new veterinary technology program at Florida A & M University.  Prior to coming to Texas A & M/Kingsville, she returned to TB work with the elephants at The Elephant Sanctuary. 

Deborah joined the Department of Animal, Rangeland, and Wildlife Sciences in April, 2016.   She will be supporting the veterinary staff and teaching Veterinary Terminology and Pharmacological Calculations.
