Lucas Halley comes to Texas A&M University-Kingsville after four years as an active saxophonist and private instructor in the Greater Cincinnati Area. Originally from Texas, he holds a BA in Music Education from the University of North Texas, a MM in Saxophone Performance from Stephen F. Austin State University, and a DMA in Saxophone Performance from Texas Tech University. He has a particular interest in performing music with electronics and exploring the threads of connection between Performer, Composer, and Listener. He has recent performances with Richmond Symphony Orchestra, Springfield Symphony Orchestra, and with the Baku Saxophone quartet composed of members Dr. Carly Hood, Dr. Braydon Sowell, and Riona Kumazaki-Sowell. He has worked extensively with students from Kings High School, Oak Hills High School, East Walnut Hills High School and Middle School, Rapid Run Middle School, and Beechwood High School. He believes in teaching with kindness and compassion above all else, and that anyone one of any age and experience level can learn to be an effective musician.
