Dr. Andrea Vos-Rochefort, Assistant Professor of Clarinet


Assistant Professor of Clarinet

An engaging and accomplished clarinetist, Dr. Andrea Vos-Rochefort regularly premieres new works in recital and at Clarinetfest and performs with the Dayton Philharmonic, Richmond Symphony, Lima Orchestra, Carmel Symphony, Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra, Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, Lexington Philharmonic, West Virginia Symphony Orchestra, Fort Worth Symphony, Corpus Christi Symphony, Midland-Odessa Symphony, Victoria Symphony, and San Antonio Symphony. Andrea was recently appointed Assistant Professor of Clarinet at Texas A&M University-Kingsville and previously served as Instructor of Clarinet at the University of Dayton and Stivers School for the Arts.

Dr. Vos-Rochefort has performed around the world in France, Italy, and the United States on stages including Avery Fisher Hall, Salle Cortot, Aronoff Center, and the historic Des Moines Capitol building as a soloist with the Des Moines Chamber Symphony. She performs with pianist Clare Longendyke and flutist Lizzy Darling in the US and abroad with the CT:2 Duo and Duo Cylindre and works have been written for her by Mack Lamont, Laura Harrison, Bradley Harris, Ellen Harrison, Mara Helmuth, Nathan Hudson, Andrey Rubtsvo, and Daniel Harrison and she has been featured in recital and masterclass performances at Cincinnati Soundbox, University of Dayton, Miami University, Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, Wright State University, University of Dayton, and the University of North Carolina-Greensboro among others. In addition to being an active performer and champion of new music, Andrea is a dedicated advocate of arts outreach and education and is passionate about engaging the public in unique and innovative ways. Andrea served in outreach roles as Artistic Director of Artalism Coalition and Community Engagement and Education Manager with concert:nova. Andrea has focused her doctoral research on interdisciplinary arts and a creative synthesis approach in the community and this research and curriculum writing has resulted in more than 70 performances of workshops based on national standards and using modern repertoire to engage students in Cincinnati Public Schools and has benefited over 1000 students in the last three years. She has also implemented an initiative to commission new works based in STEAM curriculum introducing scientific, mathematical, engineering, or technology based concepts through music in high school classrooms. Andrea would like to thank the Ben Carlson Berne Foundation for their support of her work as Community Engagement and Education Manager with concert:nova and looks forward to seeing the reach of these programs grow in years to come.
