Dr. Joachim Reinhuber, Professor of Music, Piano

Professor of Music

Joachim Reinhuber, born in Frankfurt, Germany, comes from a musical family. His first teacher, Franz Calvelli-Adorno, was his grandfather.  He then studied with Gisela Sott (Frankfurt), Robert Levin (University of Music, Freiburg), John Perry (Rice University, Houston TX) and Nancy Garrett (University of Texas at Austin).

He was member of the faculty of the City of Aschaffenburg Music School, Germany, teaching  piano, chamber music and music theory for 14 years. He has performed all over Germany, in recitals, chamber music and Lieder recitals. A live lecture recital with works by Adorno, Schoenberg and Brahms was recorded in 2005 by North German Radio in Bremen.

In 2004 students of his piano studio performed the first book of the “Well-Tempered Clavier“ by Bach in several recitals around Aschaffenburg.  In August 2006 he returned to Texas to pursue the DMA program in piano performance at the University of Texas at Austin, which he completed in November 2008. His interest in music theory is documented by his double major degree in piano and theory. Since the fall of 2008 he has been serving as the head of piano studies at Texas A&M University, Kingsville.
