Assistant Professor of Music Theory

Angela Ripley is an Assistant Professor of Music Theory at Texas A&M University-Kingsville. Dr. Ripley holds degrees in music theory (Ph.D., The Ohio State University; M.M., Baylor University) and church music (B.M., Baylor University). Prior to her appointment at TAMUK, she taught graduate and undergraduate courses at Baylor University, the College of Wooster, the University of Alabama, The Ohio State University, and Texas A&M University-Commerce. Her research focuses on music theory pedagogy, with a specialization in pedagogical games. Dr. Ripley has presented her research at national and regional meetings of the Society for Music Theory and at Pedagogy into Practice: Teaching Music Theory in the Twenty-First Century. Her articles appear and are forthcoming in the Journal of Music Theory Pedagogy, Music Theory Pedagogy Online, Engaging Students: Essays in Music Pedagogy, and HAYDN: The Online Journal of the Haydn Society of North America.
