Dr. Joel Cabrera joined the TAMUK-Citrus Center as Assistant Professor of Horticulture and Plant Physiology in January 2022. Research in the lab is conducted in the field, greenhouse, and laboratories to study the effects of traditional and alternative nutrient and water management practices to sustain citrus (grapefruit and oranges) tree yield, fruit quality, nutritional balance, and resistance to distress. Additionally, we conduct pre and postharvest analysis of fruit physiology to support Texas citrus producers. Dr. Cabrera teaches Crop Physiology (PLSS 3381) and Advanced Crop Phys (PLSS 5352) during Spring and Fall semester. The lab is active in Instagram under the handle “cabrera_lab”. Follow us!
