Dr. Rex Gandy

Rex Gandy became provost at Texas A&M University-Kingsville in August 2009. He previously served as dean and professor in the College of Science and Technology at the University of Southern Mississippi  from 2003 to 2009. Read more»

Overseen by the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs are the seven colleges of the university including the Dick and Mary Lewis Kleberg College of Agriculture Natural Resources and Human Sciences, the College of Arts and Sciences, the College of Business Administration, the College of Education and Human Performance, the Frank H. Dotterweich College of Engineering, the Honors College, and the College of Graduate Studies . In addition, the Provost oversees the James C. Jernigan Library, the Center for Student Success and Title V.

The Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs manages the academic support units necessary to the function of a comprehensive university. Among the vice president’s operating units are Continuing Education, Academic Testing Center, International Studies and Programs, the Center for Teaching Effectiveness and the Office of Institutional Research and Office of Planning and Assessment.

The Associate Vice President for Research and Graduate Studies oversees the College of Graduate Studies as well as Research and Sponsored Programs.

The Associate Vice President for Student Success oversees the First Year Javelinas, Learning Assistance Center, Peer Mentoring Center, Professional Academic Advisors, and Supplemental Instruction and the Javelina Read Program.

The Chief Information Officer has responsibility for Computing and Information Services and oversees Distance Learning and Instructional Technology.

The Associate Vice President for Student Access oversees the Office of Special Programs, including the Educational Opportunity Center, Ronald E. McNair Scholars, Student Support Services, Upward Bound, Upward Bound Math and Science, and the Educational Talent Search program
