Faculty Accomplishments (Nov. & Dec., 2014)


Dr. Valerie Bartelt has been selected as one of the 2014-2015 Corpus Christi 40 under 40 award. The selected recipients will be honored at the Mayor's Breakfast in January.

Dr. Valerie Bartelt's papers include: 

  • "Nature and Nurture: The Impact of Structuration and the Automaticity of Communication on Virtual Team Behavior and Performance," accepted for MIS Quarterly.

  • "Putting on the Thinking Cap: Using NeuroIS to Understand Information Processing in Virtual Teams," Journal of Management of Information Systems.

  • Dr. Valerie Bartelt was a part of the research team that published "Ethnic Diversity Deflates Price Bubbles."  

Dr. John Cicala has been named the chair for the 2015 uSamp Outstanding Teacher-Scholar Doctoral Student Competition for the Marketing Management Association and Marketing Education Review.  The top three finalists will present their dissertations - and the winner named - at next fall's educators conference in San Juan.

Dr. Natalya Delcoure and Dr. Kendra Huff had "Determinants of IFRS voluntary adoption in emerging and frontier markets" accepted in Review of Business.  

Dr. Dongnyoung Kim's paper, "How Entrenched Managers Beat Earnings Expectations Before and After SOX," will be published in The Quarterly Review of Economics and Finance.   

Dr. Dongnyoung Kim had two papers accepted for the SWFA annual meeting  in Houston, Texas in March, 2015:

  • Local Political Ideology and Acquirer's Announcement Returns

  • The Effect of CEO Conservatism on Mergers and Acquisitions Decisions

Dr. Thomas Krueger participated a presentation by the Eagle Ford Center for Research, Education, and Outreach (EFCREO) to the Governor's Task Force on Emerging Technology in San Antonio on November 18th.

Dr. Thomas Krueger, Professor of Finance, spoke at the December 10 meeting of the Kingsville Lions Club. His presentation covered a variety of economic aspects of the region, including both social demographics and business conditions.

Dr. Martha Sale gave the following conference presentations:

  • "The Payoff of Paying it Forward" and "Are My Web Page and I on the Same Page?, Allied Academies International Conference, Las Vegas, NV, October 2014

Dr. Martha Sale had these refereed journal articles accepted: 

  • "Development of a Measurement Instrument for Website Design: Utilizing Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) Multi-attribute Decision modeling accepted for a forthcoming issue of the International Journal of E-Business Research.

  • "Using AHP to Develop a Measure of Web Presence," accepted for a forthcoming issue of the Academy of Strategic Management Journal

  • "Financial Rewards of Social Actions" accepted for a forthcoming issue of the Academy of Accounting and Financial Studies Journal

  • Chapter in an edited book (invited) - "Creation of an Instrument to Measure Website Effectiveness Using the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP)", Encyclopedia of E-Commerce Development, Implementation, and Management (forthcoming).

Dr. Hans Schumann and Harmeet Singh had a paper published in the Journal of Economics and Economic Education Research, "The Market Structure Dynamics Created by De-bundling of Airline Bag Fees."

Dr. Jack Shorter's paper, "Distinctions in Academic Journal Review Processes and Acceptance Rates across Time & How Time to Review, Manuscript Length, and Sponsorship Effect Periodical Acceptance Rates in the Information Systems Discipline." was published in the Journal of Information Systems Technology and Planning.  

Harmeet Singh had a paper published in International Journal of Engineering Research & Technology (IJERT) titled "Optimizing College Degree Plan".
