Hello, I am Synthia Garza, and I am a Professional Counselor II at Student Health and Wellness Counseling Services at Texas A&M University–Kingsville, where I have been serving since 2018. I earned my bachelor’s degree in 2013 with a double major in Psychology and Spanish Literature, and I completed my Master of Arts in Psychology (LPC track) in 2016.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor (LPC-S) and a Board-Certified Tele-Mental Health Provider (BC-TMH), credentials I have held since 2019. I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and hold certifications as a Certified Anger Resolution Therapist, a QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) Certified Instructor, and a Complex Trauma Treatment Level II Professional.
With more than seven years of experience, I specialize in supporting college students as they navigate anxiety, stress, coping skill development, and trauma recovery. My approach is eclectic and integrative, combining various therapeutic modalities to meet each person’s unique needs while keeping a deeply human-centered philosophy at the heart of my work.
Fluent in both English and Spanish, I am committed to creating a responsive and all-embracing counseling space where every student feels seen, heard, and supported in their healing journey.
