Outdoor Adventures

Texas A&M University-Kingsville has partnered with Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi to provide outdoor adventure opportunities for TAMUK Students. As part of this collaboration TAMUK students can participate in trips, attend outdoor clinics and rent outdoor recreational equipment offered by the TAMU-CC Outdoor Adventure program. For more information on trip offerings or financial assistance to help cover the cost please complete the interest form. Anyone that signs-up for a trip or clinic must attend a pre-trip meeting. Virtual pre-trip meetings are available for TAMUK students.

Does Texas A&M University-Kingsville Recreational Sports offer outdoor adventure trips?

While Texas A&M- Kingsville Recreational Sports doesn't directly offer outdoor adventure trips, we've partnered with Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Outdoor Adventures to allow TAMUK students the opportunity to participate on the Texas A&M- Corpus Christi Outdoor Adventure Trips. TAMUK Students can get more information on Texas A&M-Corpus Christi trips, clinic and outdoor equipment rentals here.

How much do trips cost? Do I need to have my own camping gear?

Cost of the trips vary. Cost covers transportation, dinners, and camping gear needed for the trip. TAMUK Recreational Sports can help provide financial assistance to help cover the cost. Complete the Outdoor Adventure Interest Form at the top of this page for more information on financial assistance.

Where do the trips depart from?

All trips depart from the Dugan Wellness Center on the Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi campus. TAMUK students will need to get transportation to the Dugan Wellness Center. If a TAMUK student needs transportation to the Dugan Wellness Center email recsports@tamuk.edu.

Can TAMUK Students rent outdoor equipment for personal use from Texas A&M- Corpus Christi Outdoor Adventures?

Yes! Part of the partnership allows TAMUK students to rent equipment from Texas A&M- Corpus Christi. For equipment available for rent and prices please visit https://www.tamucc.edu/rec-sports/equipment.php.

Exploring Inks Lake and Longhorn Cavern

September 20th-22nd, 2024 (Trip is full, accepting wait list)

Don’t miss out on this dynamic trip where we will start the day off exploring the vast cave system of Longhorn Cavern and end the day cliff jumping up to 35ft into Devil’s Waterhole.

Camping Pedernales Falls

October 18th-20th, 2024 (Trip is full, accepting wait list)

Pedernales Falls State park is a favorite of many Texas Outdoor enthusiasts because of its amazing waterfalls and scenic backpacking. We will enjoy a fun hike and get to camp overnight above the beautiful Pedernales River.

Backpacking Hill Country SNA

November 8th-10th, 2024

Come with us as we explore Hill Country State Natural Area! With open fields, rolling hills and winding rivers, we'll be trekking through paradise.

Guadalupe Mountains National Park

December 15th-21st, 2024

Come with us to the highest peak in Texas and to one of the largest, deepest cavern system in the US! Two National Parks in one week in one of the most underrated and beautiful parts of Texas.

Volunteer Event

Outdoor Adventures facilitates and sponsors volunteer camping trips to any local, state, and national parks to provide some much-needed service to our parks systems. These service projects are always free for the students or staff that sign up.
