Does Texas A&M University-Kingsville Recreational Sports offer outdoor adventure trips?
While Texas A&M- Kingsville Recreational Sports doesn't directly offer outdoor adventure trips, we've partnered with Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Outdoor Adventures to allow TAMUK students the opportunity to participate on the Texas A&M- Corpus Christi Outdoor Adventure Trips. TAMUK Students can get more information on Texas A&M-Corpus Christi trips, clinic and outdoor equipment rentals here.
How much do trips cost? Do I need to have my own camping gear?
Cost of the trips vary. Cost covers transportation, dinners, and camping gear needed for the trip. TAMUK Recreational Sports can help provide financial assistance to help cover the cost. Complete the Outdoor Adventure Interest Form at the top of this page for more information on financial assistance.
Where do the trips depart from?
All trips depart from the Dugan Wellness Center on the Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi campus. TAMUK students will need to get transportation to the Dugan Wellness Center. If a TAMUK student needs transportation to the Dugan Wellness Center email recsports@tamuk.edu.
Can TAMUK Students rent outdoor equipment for personal use from Texas A&M- Corpus Christi Outdoor Adventures?
Yes! Part of the partnership allows TAMUK students to rent equipment from Texas A&M- Corpus Christi. For equipment available for rent and prices please visit https://www.tamucc.edu/rec-sports/equipment.php.
Skydiving
Date: September 19th
Cost: $160 per person
If you are brave enough, you will get to experience about a minute of free fall followed by a gentle decent back to solid ground.
Snorkeling San Marcos
Date: September 12th -14th
Cost: $85 per person
Cost covers gear, transportation, dinners, reservations, etc.
We will snorkel down the Guadalupe River, dive in the deep blue at Canyon Lake and cruise through San Marcos in the crystal-clear spring fed San Marcos River.
Exploring Enchanted Rock
Date: October 17th -19th
Cost: $85 -$200 per person
Cost covers gear, transportation, dinners, reservations, etc.
This trip combines 3 of what we consider to be the best outdoor experiences: sunsets/sunrises, night hiking, and unique geological formations. Who doesn't want to explore a massive lava dome?
Backpacking Big Thicket
Date: November 14th -16th
Cost: $65 -$75 per person
Cost covers gear, transportation, dinners, reservations
Big Thicket is known for its miles of trail and diversity in its ecosystems. Take a break from your day-to-day to hike and sleep along the creeks and massive bald cypress trees of the riparian treasure.
Bouldering at San Antonio
Date: October 4th
Cost: $60 per person
Cost covers transportation, shoe rentals, and entrance fees
Come with us to San Antonio to flex those rock climbing skills! Or rock scrambling... we don't judge! Join us at an indoor bouldering facility that has kombucha and coffee on tap!
Backpacking Davy Crockett National Forest
Date: November 7th -9th
Cost: $75 per person
Cost covers gear, transportation, dinners, reservations
Come with us as we backpack part of the Four C National Trail through the Davy Crockett National Forest! Surrounded by trees, we'll be exploring the depths of East Texas.
Challenge Course and Rock Wall
Date: November 1st
Cost: $15 per person
Join us as we will put you through a challenge course guaranteed to push you to your limits!
Wolf Creek Skiing
Date: January 3rd -10th
Cost: Around $155 -$225 per person
Cost covers gear, transportation, dinners, Airbnb, Equipment rentals, etc.
Join us this winter and escape to the snow. Learn how to Ice Skate, snow sled, snowboard, or ski as Outdoor Adventures travels to Ski Apache. Experience the wonders of winter in the mountains of Colorado, up close and personal!
Surfing Lessons
Date: September 6th
Cost: $20 per person
Cost covers Gear, Reservations, and Services.

Windsurfing Lessons
Date: September 27th
Cost: $40 per person
Come try your hand at the invigorating sport of windsurfing in waters of the stunning Padre Island National Seashore.
Horses on the Beach
Date: October 3rd
Cost: $60 per person
Horses on the Beach is a staple activity here in Corpus Christi! Register to explore the coast in an exciting new way. Giddy-up!
Garner State Park
Date: September 26th -28th
Cost: $85 per person

This camping trip will involve non primitive camping(running water and facilities), a perfect opportunity for first time campers and anyone interested in a nice easy going camping trip.
Hill Country Road Trip
Date: October 24th -26th
Cost: $85 per person
Cost covers gear, transportation, dinners, reservations, etc.
Come with us as we travel through Texas' popular Hill Country Area! With stops at three different State Parks and Natural Areas, as well as interesting art formations, we'll be deep diving into Texas' most hidden gems.
