Room Roommate Information
Please note the following important dates below are for application dates, roommate selection, and room selection. Applications must be completed in the Starrez portal prior to being able to select roommates and rooms.
Key Dates and Information
The Housing Application opens for new students admitted to Texas A&M University - Kingsville for the Spring 2026 semester on November 3, 2025.
Roommate Selection
The Spring application will include a section where students can indicate their preferred roommate. Roommate requests will be granted based off of space availability.
Confirming Roommates
A roommate request is considered confirmed only when both students have mutually selected and accepted each other in the system.
Room Assignments
Room assignments for Spring 2026 will be coordinated by the Department of University Housing & Residence Life. Assignment notifications will be available in the StarRez portal by mid-December.

The Summer 2026 Housing Application opens on April 1, 2026.

The Summer application will include a section where students can indicate their preferred roommate. Roommate requests will be granted based off of space availability.
Room Assignments
Room assignments for Summer 2026 will be determined by the Department of University Housing & Residence Life. Assignment detail will be communicated via the StarRez portal by mid-May.

The Housing Application opens for new students admitted to Texas A&M University - Kingsville for the Fall 2026 - Spring 2027 semester on January 5, 2026.
Roommate Selection
Starting on April 1, 2026 students with a completed Housing Application may begin forming roommate groups. Roommate groups must be completed prior to room selection.
Confirmed Roommates
A roommate pair is considered confirmed when both students request and accept one another through the StarRez Housing Portal. Each student will be assigned a room selection date based on their individual application submission date.
Important Information
Roommate requests are not guaranteed. It is the student's responsibility to ensure that both confirmed roommates select the same room during their assigned selection window. Roommate requests made after selecting a room will not automatically assign the requested roommate to that space.
Room Selection Timeline
Room selection dates are issued based on the date the Housing Application was submitted.
- Round 1: May 21 - June 5
- For students who submitted their Housing Application between January 5 and April 1.
- Round 2: June 8 - June 22
- For students who submitted their Housing Application between April 2 and June 22.
- June 22, 2026 - 5:00pm (CST)
- Room Selection Closes: Self-selection will end at this time. Students who have not selected a room by this deadline - or who apply for Housing after this date - will be manually assigned a room by the Department of University Housing & Residence Life.
