Welcome to the Frank H. Dotterweich College of Engineering, where students have been learning to apply science and technology to solve engineering problems since 1936.  In the 85 years since offering our first engineering program, Natural Gas Engineering, we have graduated over ten thousand students who have gone on to successful careers with some achieving the highest leadership positions within their respective organizations.

We have the most comprehensive array of undergraduate programs in South Texas including: architectural engineering, chemical engineering, civil engineering, electrical engineering, environmental engineering, mechanical engineering, and natural gas engineering. All of these programs are accredited by the Engineering Accreditation commission of ABET, In addition, we offer undergraduate degrees in computer science, accredited by the Computing Accreditation commission of ABET,; and industrial technology management and applied engineering, accredited by the Association of Technology, Management and Applied Engineering (ATMAE),  Our newest degree offerings in computer engineering and industrial engineering have just begun and cannot be accredited till we graduate some students.

Whether you are a recent graduate with a bachelor’s degree, or someone seeking a graduate degree for professional advancement, we are happy to have you pursue one of our many graduate degree programs.  We offer master’s degrees in chemical engineering, civil engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, environmental engineering, industrial engineering, industrial management, mechanical engineering, mechatronics and natural gas engineering. You can start your master’s program while in your senior year through recently introduced fast track program that can potentially get you BS and MS degrees in five years.

For students whose career goals include university teaching or research in the academic, commercial or government sectors, we offer a Ph.D. in engineering that can be tailored to specific disciplines as well as a Ph.D. In environmental engineering.

The College of Engineering maintains a strong bond with all stakeholders in the region, especially the local and regional industry, local/state/federal agencies, educational institutes of south Texas, as well as our alumni base who play an active role in supporting the mission of the college.

No matter what degree you have chosen to pursue, I wish you every success during your time as a student with us.
