VISION  

The Frank H. Dotterweich College of Engineering is committed to being globally renowned for the quality and accomplishments of its graduates, faculty, and staff.

MISSION

The Frank H. Dotterweich College of Engineering:

  •   Graduates engineers who become productive participants in industry, profession, and society;
  •   Conducts research that significantly contributes to the well-being and sustainable development of communities and industries in South Texas, the state of Texas, and the nation; and
  •   Provides meaningful service to the profession and the communities that surround us and beyond.  

VALUES 

The Frank H. Dotterweich College of Engineering has been producing highly qualified engineering graduates since 1936.  The alumni of the College are leaders of industry, government, and academia - providing a rich legacy for the College.  Members of our learning community – students, alumni, faculty, staff, and administrators – enhance this legacy through continuous improvement, personal responsibility, ethical behavior, exceptional performance, and unwavering collegiality in our diverse community.  Through active participation and leadership, each member of our community contributes to the well-being of the College, University, profession, and the community at large.  

GOALS

In support of the broad University goals the Frank H. Dotterweich College of Engineering has established the following goals:

  • Produce engineers who become innovators, entrepreneurs, and leaders in the industry, the profession, and their communities,
  • Increase the number of engineers to meet the needs of industry, infrastructure, and the environment, 
  • Engage in applied research activities that contribute significantly to the well-being of our society, and
  • Develop and implement outreach programs that improve the quality of life in South Texas and beyond.
