Rancho La Union

Engineering students Pablo Castro,
Pradey Reddy, and Kumar Kalwa
learn field skills while surveying structure locations.

The Institute of Architectural Engineering Heritage is currently working with the Guadalupe and Lilia Martinez Foundation to document the historic structures of Rancho La Union®, and create an improvement plan for its headquarters. Concurrently, a student surveying team is collecting preliminary data to create a restoration plan for an earthen dam, dating back to the mid 1800’s, located on the site. As these projects conclude, an archaeological team will conduct a Phase I Archeological Study of areas identified for construction of facility improvements.

Peer mentor Elisa Gordinez,an engineering graduate student, teaches art student Omar Gonzalez to use a large-format camera.
