Communication Sciences and Disorders

New Student Information

An overall grade point average of 2.75, a grade point average of 3.0 in all CSDO courses, adequate written and oral communication skills (see CSDO 4223) and a passing grade on the CSDO exit exam prior to graduation are required so as to prepare the student for acceptance into a master's program. Students with less than a 3.0 grade point average must petition the CSDO faculty before enrollment in any subsequent class will be permitted. Students in communication sciences and disorders have the opportunity to gain practical experience in the Communication Disorders Clinic.

Students should be advised that the Texas State Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology may deny a license to an applicant because of conviction for a felony or misdemeanor if the crime directly relates to the professional duties of a speech-language pathologist, assistant in speech-language pathology or audiologist. A Master's Degree in communication disorders is required in order to be a licensed speech-language pathologist in the State of Texas.

Please check the current university calendar for important deadlines regarding application for admission and application for graduation.
