Industrial engineering program prepares individuals to apply scientific and mathematical principles to the design, improvement, and installation of integrated systems of people, material, information, and energy. Therefore, regardless of fluctuations in the overall economy, industry will always have a need for industrial engineers to reduce costs and improve processes.

The new Industrial Engineering undergraduate program is approved by Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board in April 2019, and officially starts from Fall 2019. It provides a much broad area in engineering for current and future students. Students with industrial engineering degree will also have much flexible future career choices after graduation. Industrial engineering is a diverse discipline with many areas of specialization, which include service industries, ergonomics, manufacturing, production control, simulation analysis, optimization, economic analysis, project management and construction, energy, supply chain, health care, finance, banking, defense and aerospace. Due to the wide range of services that industrial engineers provide, the number of available jobs will continue to grow.
