Kirsten Compary serves as the Associate Vice President of Student Affairs / Dean of Students. She assists the campus community by serving as student resource and guide. As a member of the Student Affairs leadership team, she provides insight and guidance on issues that students face, the student grievance process, and student travel. Compary oversees Student Conduct and Community Standards, Student Engagement and Campus Life, including Campus Recreation, University Housing and Residence Life, and Student Health and Wellness, including Student Health Services, the Student Counseling Center, the Disability Resource Center, and Wellness Programs. Compary also is responsible for a number of delegated projects, revisions to the student handbook the Javelina Care Closet, and coordination of the Javelina Ring program. She also serves as the co-advisor for the Student Government Association.
Prior to joining A&M-Kingsville, Compary served as the associate dean of students at University of South Dakota where she managed housing and student activities on a campus of 9,600 students. She also served as acting dean of students for two years where she managed vendor partnerships including Aramark and Barnes and Noble. Additional work in higher education was spent working in various positions of housing and residence life.
