ELTC

English Language Training Center

Conditional Admission

How to Apply

The Texas A&M University-Kingsville may offer a student conditional admission if he or she is an international student who requires English language instruction before he or she can begin their studies at the university level. Applicants who meet all admission requirements except the English requirement can be offered conditional admission. If you are conditionally admitted, you will attend the English Language Training Center (ELTC) to study English in an intensive environment. An applicant who is offered English Conditional Admission may obtain full admission into an academic program upon meeting the university’s English Language Proficiency requirements (Please see English Language Proficiency Requirements for Undergraduate applicants at https://www.tamuk.edu/admission and Graduate applicants at https://www.tamuk.edu/enrollment-management/admission/graduate/index.html.).

English studies necessary to qualify for full admission cannot be completed online. If you intend to earn full admission, you must apply for Intensive English for Academic Purposes Program and study in the English Language Training Center at Texas A&M University-Kingsville. The program will issue an I-20 which you will use to apply for an F-1 visa for your English studies. A conditionally admitted student should communicate with the Office of International Student and Scholar Services (OISSS) when submitting other application materials.

  1. International students must apply to Texas A&M University-Kingsville via  GoApplyTexas.org. and submit/upload all required documentation for review.
  2. An Admissions Coordinator will review the student's application and determine that the student is academically qualified for admission but does not meet the minimum English Language Proficiency requirements for their program.
  3. The student will receive an admission decision of “English Conditional Admission” in Banner and an English Conditional Admission communication will also be sent to the student via email, detailing the conditions of accepting English Conditional Admission, and requesting the student to contact ELTC with their decision.
  4. The student who accepts English Conditional Admission will be admitted into the ELTC program.
