 Texas A&M University–Kingsville is committed to supporting first-generation students through scholarship opportunities designed to reduce financial barriers and help students achieve their educational goals. Explore the scholarships below to learn more about eligibility and application details.


Javelina Regents’ Scholarship for Incoming Students

The Javelina Regents’ Scholarship is part of the Texas A&M System Board of Regents’ commitment to making college more affordable for first-generation, low-income students. This scholarship supports incoming first-time-in-college and transfer students pursuing their first bachelor’s degree at TAMUK.

Initial Eligibility Requirements

  • Be a first-generation college student
  • Be admitted as an undergraduate first-time-in-college or transfer student
  • Be a Texas resident
  • Be pursuing your first bachelor’s degree
  • Submit a FAFSA or TASFA
  • Demonstrate household income of $40,000 or less
  • Enroll in at least 12 credit hours each semester

Renewal Requirements

  • Maintain enrollment in at least 12 credit hours each semester
  • Continue demonstrating financial need through FAFSA or TASFA
  • Meet Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) requirements

Note: No separate application is required. Eligible students are automatically considered after admission to the university. Funding is limited and awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.


Javelina Golds' First Generation Scholarship for Continuing Students

The First Generation Scholarship Award supports continuing first-generation students as they continue their academic journey at Texas A&M University–Kingsville. This scholarship provides additional financial support to help students stay enrolled and succeed in college. 

Scholarship Criteria

  • First-generation undergraduate student
  • Pell eligible
  • Minimum 2.0 GPA
  • Degree-seeking student
  • Part-time or full-time enrollment
  • Continuing students or transfer students eligible

Application Information

Scholarship Amount: $1,000
Application Deadline: July 15th

Note: Funding is limited and awarded on a competitive basis.
