Double Degree Opportunities

Pharm.D./MBA Double Degree

Texas A&M Health Science Center Rangel School of Pharmacy and the Texas A&M-Kingsville College of Business Administration are partnered to provide students of pharmacy the opportunity to earn two degrees, the Doctor of Pharmacy and the Master of Business Administration, in parallel. Thus, when students graduate, they are prepared not only for the clinical aspect of Pharmacy, but will also have the business background and skills necessary to enter management positions within the pharmacy. Students are able to earn an MBA degree in less time and at a lower expense than if they were to pursue the two degrees independently.

Admission Requirements

  • Satisfactory completion of pre-MBA Foundation courses
  • Completion of first Pharmacy program year
  • Letter of recommendation from the Dean of the School of Pharmacy

How it works

The double degree Pharm.D./MBA program involves the fundamental elements of each program. All students must meet the requirements for admission to the two independent degree programs. Students complete the first professional year in the Pharm.D. curriculum, then the students add MBA courses in the following fall semester. A student can enroll in one MBA course each eight weeks during the fall and spring semesters and two MBA courses each summer session.

How it works

Students would be required to seek degree plan approval for each program from both colleges prior to the start of the dual degree program.  Both domestic and international students would be required to register for no more than 15 graduate hours a semester – nine hours within the College of Engineering and six hours within the College of Business Administration. Students within the computer science and electrical engineering programs are limited to a maximum of nine hours per semester and would require additional approval from their respective program to register for the six additional hours required for their MBA degree plan.
