Campus Emergency Notification
In the event of a significant emergency or dangerous situation involving an immediate threat to the health or safety of individuals on the campus, Texas A&M University-Kingsville will, without delay and considering the overall safety of the community, distribute mass emergency notifications to provide specific instructions designed to promote a safe campus environment.
The university utilizes Safezone to deliver these urgent alerts, which include PUSH notifications to registered application users, SMS text messages, and e-mails to registered users. All students, faculty, and staff are automatically enrolled in Safezone. Others, such as visitors, may request enrollment through the University Police Department and may provide additional contact information including phone numbers and e-mail addresses for spouses or parents who wish to receive emergency notifications.
Texas A&M University-Kingsville will use the Safezone system exclusively for official notification of critical emergencies - situations presenting an imminent threat to the campus community. When the threat has been resolved, the university will issue a follow-up or all-clear message.
It is university policy to notify the campus community via the Tier II Emergency Notification System upon confirmation of a significant emergency or dangerous situation. The University Police Department may receive such information from a variety of sources including law enforcement, fire department, National Weather Service, Office of Risk Management, or Environmental Health and Safety personnel. For preparedness and to ensure the effectiveness of the Emergency Notification System, the university conducts monthly tests of the system and its procedures.
