Randy Fluman, Assistant Professor of Percussion, came to the Texas A&M-Kingsville Music Department in 1987. He holds a Bachelor of Music Education degree from the University of Oklahoma and a Master of Music in Performance degree from Texas Tech University. He instructs and arranges for the “PRIDE” of South Texas drumline, conducts the percussion ensemble and teaches private lessons. Mr. Fluman is principal percussionist with the Corpus Christi Symphony Orchestra and Corpus Christi Ballet Orchestra and performs with the Victoria Symphony Orchestra. He is an active clinician in the areas of marching and concert percussion. His marching percussion arrangements have been performed by Texas A&M-Kingsville, the University of Oklahoma, Texas Tech University, the University of Michigan, the University of Houston and countless high schools across the country. In addition to arrangements for marching percussion, Mr. Fluman’s composition for vibraphone, “Phantasie”, is published by C. Alan Publications. Mr. Fluman is former drumline instructor and arranger for the University of Oklahoma, Texas Tech University, the SkyRyders Drum and Bugle Corps from Hutchinson, Kansas and the Valiant Knights Drum and Bugle Corps from Enid, Oklahoma. In 1996, the TAMUK drumline performed at the NBA All-Star Game in the Alomodome and in 1999, the Texas A&M-Kingsville Percussion Ensemble performed at the Texas Music Educators Association Convention in San Antonio.
