Javelina Preview Days Tips for a Campus Visit
Tips for a Campus Visit
1. Bring plenty of questions.
The admissions counselors enjoy answering questions about academics, student life, sports, entertainment, and just about anything else. You really get the most out of your visit by speaking up and asking questions!
Here are a few sample questions:
•What is a degree plan?
•Who should I talk to about my career goals and degree plan?
•What are the reading and writing assignments like for freshmen?
•What kinds of presentations or group projects can I expect?
•How do I meet with faculty members outside of class to discuss coursework?
•How do I sign up for honors courses?
2. Have a major in mind.
Our program is tailored toward your intended course of study. We offer classroom visits and meetings with departments on campus. Take advantage of the opportunity to experience a lecture or visit with a professor in your intended area of study during the program. Below you will find a table of undergraduate majors that are available at Texas A&M University - Kingsville.
3. Dress for the weather and wear comfortable shoes.
Texas weather is usually warm; however, we recommend checking the forecast and dressing appropriately. Wearing layers is a good strategy. You'll be covering a lot of ground on your visit, so comfortable shoes are a must!
4. Don't forget to visit with the Financial Aid office!
Talk with a financial aid officer about FAFSA deadlines and available scholarships. Ask questions on how to apply, and also on what methods of financial aid are best for your family. This will ensure you start your year off without unnecessary worries.
