False Alarm or Report

False Alarm or Report

Knowingly initiating, communicating, or circulating a false report of an emergency … (bombing, fire, offense, etc.) is punishable by law.

  1. A person commits an offense if they knowingly initiate or circulate a false report that would ordinarily:
    1. Cause emergency response action;
    2. Place a person in fear of imminent serious bodily injury;
    3. Prevent or interrupt the occupation of public places or transportation.
  2. An offense is a Class A misdemeanor unless involving education, public communications, transportation, or utilities — in which case it is a state jail felony.
