Criminal Justice, BA
Criminal Justice is an interdisciplinary field focused on the academic and practical study of the systems and institutions society uses to maintain public order, deter and respond to crime, and administer justice. At Texas A&M University-Kingsville, the Criminal Justice program provides students with a comprehensive understanding of the three pillars of the criminal justice system — law enforcement, the judicial system, and corrections — as well as the role of communities in shaping and responding to crime and justice. Drawing from multiple disciplines, the program develops students as critical thinkers, ethical professionals, and engaged citizens. Criminal Justice graduates are prepared to pursue careers in fields such as law enforcement, court administration, corrections, victim advocacy, homeland security, social services, and public policy.

Criminology is an interdisciplinary social-behavioral science which includes systematic study in the theory of crime, social foundations of criminal behavior, theories of punishment, and social structural components of the legal and criminal justice systems. History, BA
History is the systematic study of the human past, examining the events, forces, and individuals that have shaped societies, cultures, and civilizations across time. At Texas A&M University-Kingsville, the History program goes beyond the classroom, giving students the opportunity to engage actively as historians through primary research, presentations at national conferences, and internships at museums, archives, and The Journal of South Texas, a scholarly publication edited by History program faculty. Areas of study include world history, American history, and regional history with particular attention to the histories of Texas, Mexico, and the Southwest borderlands. The skills cultivated through the study of History (critical thinking, research, writing, and communication) are valued across a wide range of professions. History graduates are well prepared to pursue careers in fields such as education, law, government, public service, archival and museum work, journalism, and business, as well as graduate and professional study.

Political Science is the systematic study of political systems, institutions, behavior, and theory, examining the structures and processes through which societies govern themselves and exercise power. At Texas A&M University-Kingsville, the Political Science program offers a broad and rigorous curriculum spanning a variety of fields, including American State and National Governments, Policy Analysis and Public Administration, Political Philosophy, Comparative Politics, International Relations, and Public Law.
